"My stand on abortion has always been that if you do what it takes to get pregnant and then just don't want a baby, well, have it anyway and give it to someone who can't make their own, and make it a good gift to society."

That ignores the massive disparity between the number of unwanted children and the number of infertile couples. We're talking orders of magnitude different.

In addition, having a baby because you happened to fall pregnant (maybe despite taking appropriate measures) is not somethig you "just" do, particularly in the context of the joke that is American healthcare (because the onus would disproportionately fall on the poor and uninsured).
